Lynton Orrett Secures Acquittal in s.18 GBH Trial

Lynton Orrett, Head of the Crime Team at Nexus Chambers, was instructed by Jung and Co Solicitors and supported by Avtar Mehli and Archie Batra, in securing an acquittal in a serious s.18 GBH case.

The allegation centred around the complainant’s claim that the defendant struck him twice over the head with a metal object, resulting in two indented lacerations that required hospital treatment. The incident took place in private, with only the complainant and the defendant present.

The defendant maintained that he fled when the complainant rushed at him, and believed the injuries must have occurred when the complainant fell.

The jury returned a unanimous not guilty verdict in under an hour, acquitting the defendant.
