Kachi began her pupillage with Chambers on 1 March 2024. She began her ‘second six’ on 1 September 2024, pursuant to a provisional practising certificate and under the supervision of Alan Barker. Kachi is due to complete her training on 28 February 2025.
Kachi was previously supervised by Steven Hayden (from 1 March 2024 to 31 March 2024), Chloe Gardner (from 1 April 2024 to 31 May 2024), and James Manning (from 1 June 2024 to 31 August 2024).
Kachi accepts instructions in criminal defence, family and civil matters. She has already been praised by several professional and lay clients for her professionalism, tenacity, responsiveness and excellent communication skills.
Prior to commencing pupillage at Nexus, Kachi worked as a public law and immigration caseworker at a law firm and migrant justice charity. She is experienced in working with vulnerable clients, particularly young people, migrants, trafficking victims, and individuals with serious mental illness. Kachi has undertaken the ICCA Vulnerable Witness training course.
Criminal cases
R v W (Magistrates’ Court) – secured an acquittal after trial of a client charged with theft by finding.
R v D (Magistrates’ Court) – following successful negotiation at Court on the day of trial the Crown offered no evidence against a client charged with breach of a restraining order. Kachi also secured a conditional discharge following the client’s guilty plea for possession of a bladed article in a public place.
R v B (Youth Court) – obtained a 7-month referral order for a youth client charged with assault occasioning GBH.
R v S (Crown Court) – mitigation leading to a Suspended Sentence Order for a client following a committal for sentence for the offences of intentional strangulation and assault occasioning ABH.
Family cases
P v M – successful application for a non-molestation order to protect a client from harassment by a previous partner.
Civil cases
E v S (County Court) – Represented the Claimant at a Small Claim trial concerning liability and quantum following a road traffic accident. Kachi secured judgment for the Claimant and dismissal of the Defendant’s counterclaim.
