The mainstay of Hugh’s practice was criminal defence work across a wide range of crimes such as murder and serious violence, robbery, weapons and drugs. Feedback indicated that he managed difficult clients well, combining strong advocacy skills with good client management.
He was also retained by a number of rail companies in connection with appellate court matters.
Hugh worked in business publishing for 17 years before being called to the bar having started out as a business journalist. He originally trained as an accountant before taking a masters degree in business administration at London Business School.
Hugh remains involved in chambers but the mainstay of his work is once again in publishing.
