Karen Kachi Odidika successful in a private law children fact-finding case

09.04.2025

Kachi Odidika, instructed by Olamide Olayemi of Duncan Lewis Solicitors, represented the respondent mother in a two-day fact-finding hearing within private law children proceedings.

The case arose out of the father’s applications for a child arrangements order to spend time with A, a 2-year old boy. During proceedings, the mother has made serious allegations of domestic abuse against the father, the most serious being physical abuse, including strangulation, and coercive and controlling behaviour.

Following the fact-finding hearing, the court found that the father had routinely subjected the mother to verbal, physical, and emotional abuse, influenced in part by the father’s chronic excessive alcohol use. The matter has been adjourned for the preparation of a section 7 report by CAFCASS.

The matter was heard by District Judge Ring on 3rd and 4th April 2025, with judgment given on 4th April 2025.

Kachi is regularly instructed to represent clients in private law children proceedings. She is particularly skilful at working with vulnerable clients, with experiences of serious mental illness, domestic abuse, and modern slavery.
