James Manning’s client acquitted of murder and manslaughter following 10-week trial at the Old Bailey

James Manning was part of a team that on Friday, following a 10-week trial at the Old Bailey, secured the acquittal of his client on charges of murder and manslaughter.

The prosecution case was that James’s client, who was the second of five defendants on the indictment, was part of a joint enterprise shooting: the deceased was fatally shot in the head from close range in the early hours of 21 September 2025 outside a nightclub in Wembley.

The prosecution case relied heavily on CCTV footage. The jury had to consider ‘cut-throat’ defences.

On behalf of his client, James’s team deployed meticulous cross-examination, in particular of one of the co-defendants who was ultimately convicted of murder. In addition, through careful forensic analysis of the prosecution’s telephone and cell site evidence, James’s team were able to demonstrate the truthfulness of their client’s explanation for his association with two of the co-defendants before and after the shooting.
