A barrister who brings 20 years experience as a Higher Court Advocate to the bar prior to call. He practises exclusively in the criminal field.

Often praised for staying calm under pressure Chris has experience of dealing with clients on a wide range of offences such as murder, serious violence, drugs, fraud and sexual offences. He has represented clients with substantial mental health issues and learning issues with care and attention in achieving some eye catching results.

Recent cases as advocate include

R v R (2025) Successful appeal against sentence in Court of Appeal in relation to imposition of a SHPO

R v H (2025) Sexual Assault trial at Inner London Crown court involving CCTV evidence from a nightclub. Involved careful cross examination of prosecution witnesses

R v S (2025) Led Junior on a trial at Croydon Crown Court with for a defendant facing charges of conspiracy to Blackmail and Kidnap. Prosecution eventually offered no evidence following submissions in relation to disclosure of unused material. Case involved a large amount of prosecution papers and unused evidence.

R V S (2025) Drugs supply matter also at Croydon Crown Court involving a large quantity of Class A drugs (15 kilos of Crystal Meth). Favourable sentence obtained for client as Judge accepted defence submissions that case fell into significant rather than leading role which made a four year difference to sentence imposed.

R v C (2024) Multi handed multi complainant case of Modern slavery and people trafficking at Southwark Crown Court.  The case involved trafficking of foreign workers to the UK where they were promised money from wages which was not received.  It involved multiple defendants and multiple complainants many of whom gave evidence via a live link.  The case received national media attention and was featured in a BBC Panorama episode.  POCA proceedings are ongoing.

R v O (2024)  Arson with intent to endanger life trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court. Case involved a defendant attempting to set fire to a male in the waiting area of a hospital.

R v T (2024) Drugs supply trial at Inner London for a defendant convicted after trial of possessing class A with intent to supply them.  Obtained a suspended sentence order following trial.

R v D (2024) Drugs importation case at Chelmsford Crown Court where after a late guilty plea, mid way through the trial, the client was sentenced to a financial penalty.

R v A (2023) Serious Stabbing trial at Harrow Crown Court. Chris’ client was acquitted whilst his brother (who was co-defendant) was convicted and received a lengthy custodial sentence.

R V D (2023) Murder trial at Central Criminal court featuring seven defendants indicted on a joint enterprise basis. Chris appeared as a led junior his young client was successfully acquitted following trial. Chris conducted the application to dismiss and S28 hearing alone prior to the trial.

Other notable cases;

Sole advocate in attempted murder trial at the Old Bailey which received national media attention. The case involved a male with mental health issues taking a knife and attempting to stab various randomly selected members of the public.

Conspiracy to produce cannabis trial which ran for three months in court one at the Old Bailey and was at the time the largest cannabis factories ever discovered in the UK.

Widespread tenancy fraud trial at Woolwich Crown Court involving corruption of the housing department at London Borough of Southwark.

Million pound boiler room Fraud which ran for two months at Norwich Crown Court and saw client acquitted.

Adovcate on serious rape trial with substantial aggravating features at Central Criminal Court

Led junior on a county lines murder trial which involved a drug dealer stabbing another at Reading Crown Court.  Chris conducted cross examination of an expert witness and also the sentence hearing.

Successful appeal against sentence to the Court of Appeal for an animal rights activist.

S18 GBH trial involving the complainant being attacked in with a hammer.

Conducted trial of issue for a defendant deemed unfit to plead due to mental health issues at the Inner London Crown Court. The defendant was found to have committed the GBH which involved a stabbing and was sentenced to a hospital order.

Additionally over the years Chris has  built a substantial practice representing a wide range of clients on road traffic offences.  Experience and skilled arguments in this area has lead to numerous clients retaining their driving licences. Chris meticulously looks in to all angles to formulate exceptional hardship or special reasons.   A number of his clients  have been high profile individuals from the worlds of sport and entertainment.
