Lance has a wide ranging practice encompassing both Criminal and Civil Law.
In the criminal sphere he has prosecuted for the Crown although he mainly practices as a defence advocate in the Crown Court. Lance accepts cases across the whole spectrum of criminal law and has represented clients from a range of backgrounds, including those with mental health issues, the homeless, members of the academic community and serving military personnel. At the Central Criminal Court he recently obtained an acquittal for a serving soldier charged with a serious assault prior to the soldiers’s embarkation on a tour of duty in Afganistan. He also sucessfully argued a submission of no case to answer for a leading academic charged with a breach of a statutory duty of care. Lance has recently defended on a complex multi-handed conspiracy case involving the travelling community and requiring expert witness testimony of a highly technical nature, as well as obtaining the acquitall of a professional man charged with a serious sexual offence.
In the civil sphere Lance predominantly works as a family practitioner, concentrating on Children Act cases, although he accepts cases involving Ancillary Relief. He is a trained family mediator. In light of his previous career in property Lance practices and has a professional and personal interest in landlord and tenancy law.
Lance speaks fluent French, having lived and worked in Paris.
